The carillons of the Tower of Our Lady are played four times a week by students and teachers of the Netherlands Carillon School. Once a month, there is a group lesson in the tower.
Besides this, there are special occasions, such as the Jazz Days in May, in which the carillon plays a part. In the summer, there are concerts from the Tower of Our Lady by guest-carillonneurs from home and abroad, and at the Belgian Monument by students of the Carillon School.
Some of the concerts given by students are judged and count as internships. Twice a year, the drum of the automatic hour-chimes is re-pinned with new tunes by students, under supervision of a teacher.

Leiden itself has no carillonneur. Instead, students of the Netherlands Carillon School play the carillon of the Leiden Town Hall twice a month on Wednesday at 12.30.
On Tuesdays in May, a traditional series of concerts, the May Tune, is given by students of the Netherlands Carillon School.
From April to September, concerts are given by (former) students of the Netherlands Carillon School every fortnight.
